MEET THE TEAM: Sophie
In our Meet the Team series, today it is Sophie’s turn: our ray of sunshine with a weakness for spaghetti, chocolate ánd big cities by the sea. A woman who likes to take life with a grain of salt, as well as a good scoop of perspective.
Sophie studied Public Relations & Reception, which is really just a fancy way of saying, ‘I know how to make people feel welcome as well as how to keep it cosy.’ She already proved that at Divantoura, Omnitravel and Act-Wise. Whenever overview, warmth and a touch of chaos control are needed anywhere, Sophie is in her element.
When it comes to holidays, Sophie likes cities with sea views. No mountain hikes or rural tourism for her – no way, do her Barcelona, Lisbon, San Francisco, Sydney or New York. Cities where you can get lost in streets full of life and then take a breath of fresh air by the water. Back home, she prefers to head to the Belgian coast – for the peace, space, and maybe a waffle. Ghent is her second home, with a touch of nostalgia and lots of familiarity.
When spaghetti is on the table, Sophie is not far away. Add a piece of dark chocolate with praline filling and you score bonus points. So at the office, we know exactly what to hide when she comes in (or just not to hide if we want to keep her in a good mood).
Then again, her dream superpower is totally typical Sophie: she would love to give people with real worries a break in their heads. So no flying capes or laser eyes, but a kind of mental pause button. Those who know her, know that she already does that often – just by really listening for a moment or with a witticism that takes the pressure off.
Ask her if she would rather go camping or indulge in an all-in resort? Her answer comes faster than you can say ‘glamping’: camping! Out in nature, with some sand between your sandwich and wet socks when getting up. Delicious.
At home, Sophie is the proud mum of Marie (25) and Jef (23), who have long since captured her heart. Her family is her beacon, her source of strength and her favourite reason to plop down on the sofa in the evening with a smile.
Sophie is like that good cup of coffee on Monday morning: warm, uplifting, a touch spicy and always welcoming.
