Six action-packed days where “impressive” is an understatement. Luxury, culture, chaos, silence, history, and gastronomy — we experienced it all. Below you will find our complete itinerary, day by day.

Day 1: VIP start in Cairo

We left Amsterdam very early on December 10 for a direct flight with Transavia to Cairo. Thanks to a smooth VIP service (fast lane through customs, no queues), we arrived feeling refreshed enough to get started right away.

First impression of Cairo? Busy. VERY busy.
Honking horns, cars, mopeds, horses, donkeys, dirt roads full of children playing—it’s like watching a movie unfold before your eyes.

In the afternoon, we had a luxurious lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel and visited the brand-new Grand Egyptian Museum, an absolute must-see. The sarcophagus and mask of Tutankhamun were the highlights.

We concluded with dinner at Tenaya overlooking the Nile and then checked in at Fairmont Nile City Hotel for a well-deserved night’s rest.

Day 2: Pyramids, sun, too much food & on to Aswan

After a delicious breakfast, we did a site inspection of the Fairmont and then left for the ultimate bucket list moment: the pyramids of Giza. Our guide brought the whole story to life, including the fact that the sphinx really does no longer have a nose (he remained diplomatically silent about Asterix & Obelix’s involvement).

At Khufu Restaurant, we had lunch in the sunshine with a view of the pyramids and the Cairo skyline. And once again, I ate far too much… but it was too delicious to leave behind.

After that:

Site inspection of Hyatt Regency West

Walk through the narrow streets of the old town center

Late evening flight to Aswan

Around 1 a.m., we were finally able to check into our cabins on the Acamar Nile Cruise.

Day 3: Thrilling Abu Simbel & magical Philae

Sleep? Barely. Because at 4:30 a.m. we were already on the bus to Abu Simbel.
Visiting the temple at sunrise is pure magic. Especially when you consider that the entire complex was once moved 200 meters to save it from flooding.

After a long bus ride back, we enjoyed a lunch buffet and a short rest.

Afternoon: pure Nile tranquility

Relaxing Felucca boat trip at sunset

Light show at the Philae Temple

In the evening, we enjoyed a quiet evening on board — the end of a day that actually counted as two.

Day 4: Temples, crocodiles, and Galabeya disco

While we slept, the cruise sailed to Kom Ombo.
At dawn, we visited the temple of Haroeris and Sobek, including the Crocodile Mummification Museum.

Then: breakfast → sailing on → arrival in Edfu, where the beautifully preserved temple of Horus awaited us.

Afternoon: cruise mode ON
On the way to Luxor, we enjoyed beautiful views from the sun deck, and in the evening we went all out at the Galabeya party. Colors, music, dance… an atmosphere you won’t soon forget.

Day 5: Hot air balloon ride over Luxor & a day full of highlights

Up early (again), but for a very good reason: a balloon ride at sunrise!
We floated above the Valley of the Kings and the temples of Thebes — a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This was followed by:

Quiet breakfast at Marzam Restaurant with a view over the fields

Visit to the Al Moudira boutique hotel and lunch at their own organic farm

Valley of the Kings, including the tombs of Ramses and Tutankhamun

The impressive temple of Karnak

We ended the day with a business focus: inspections of various types of Nile cruises — from charming steamboats to luxurious 5-star ships.

Back to our own cruise for the last dinner on board.

Day 6: Last day, last impressions

We started with a flight from Luxor to Cairo, where we visited our DMC’s brand-new office. With a typical Egyptian breakfast and lots of inspiration for future groups.

Then we headed to the airport for the direct flight back to Amsterdam.
The chaos at Cairo Airport? We got them for free, but that’s just part of Egypt.

Ready for your next meeting or incentive?

Together, we create experiences that linger.
➡️ Contact us for your next meeting or incentive via freya@act-wise.be

From December 10 to 15, Freya went on a FAM trip to Egypt with Travelmediate.
